Anethi (Dill) Essential Oil

  Profile- Anethi Also known as East Indian Dill. This plant is an annual, bearing large yellow flowers, disposed in flat umbels. It reaches a height of from 1 to 2 feet, and has delicately striated stems, bearing pinnate leaves composed of long, setaceous leaflets. The whole plant is glaucous. The root is long and fusiform. It is an annual herb of the parsley family. It has a distinctive but mild caraway-like flavour. A winter crop, dill requires a well-drained, sandy soil with full exposure to sunlight. The sub tropical and temperate regions of India, particularly the northern parts, produce high quality dill.

 Uses- The essential oil finds extensive use in foods, beverages and medicines. Its essential oil constitutes an important flavoring for the pickles industry An aromatic carminative. The hydrosol has been known to be used for relieving flatulence in infants. Also known as an expectorant with soothing effect. Dilates the vasa and said to lower the blood pressure in adults.

       Aromatic Scent: Fresh, sweet, herbaceous, slightly earthy. The essential oil has a characteristic odor, resembling that of caraway, and a sweet aromatic and subsequently pungent taste. It contains 43 to 63 % of Carvone.
